Love and the omnis

Consider the philosophical attributes of God. He is omnipresent (all present), omniscient (all knowing), and omnipotent (all powerful). However Jesus stands in opposition to all of these. He said “if you see me, you see the Father”. If you see Him, a man – a man who sweats, thirsts, cries, vomits – you see God.

Jesus does not care about the omnis. Jesus came to reveal that God is love and the omnis would limit Him in that.

Does this mean we can disregard the omnis? Surely not, but they are not the ultimate truth of God, love is. In philosophy we tend to take love and try and fit it into the frame of the omnis, but it doesn’t work. The omnis fits neatly into the frame of “God is love”.

Love is the being of all things (omnipresence). Love is understanding (omniscience). Love is the highest form of power (omnipotence). Love encompasses them all and more.
